Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan – The TOLON MUSEUM of Modern Art, one of Central Asia’s leading contemporary art institutions, proudly presents its latest exhibition: “AIVANISM – An Experiment in Art and Freedom”. This groundbreaking project brings together a diverse group of established artists, united under the TOLON MUSEUM’s scholarship program, to explore the shifting global landscape influenced by the political legacy of former U.S. President Donald Trump.
A Unique Artistic Residency
From January to February 2025, the participating artists lived and worked together at the Bilimkana School residency, exchanging ideas, debating concepts, and creating bold new works. The group represents different generations, yet all are distinguished figures in post-Soviet modernism, symbolism, and abstract composition.

The Birth of AIVANISM
The exhibition is framed within the “Aivanism” movement—a fresh artistic approach that embraces freedom within conscious boundaries. The name itself hints at an experiment, a search for new creative paths.
Meet the Artists & Their Works
The exhibition features painting, graphics, and installations, each offering a unique perspective:
- Alena Li, Kanysbek Toychiev, Dastan Temirov – Their works are raw, emotional reactions—paradoxical, dynamic, and captivating. In the age of AI, their art stands out as neither Artificial nor Intellectual, but deeply human.
- Mirlan Sheishenbaev – His pieces are unpretentious life stories told through form. He reclaims the swastika as an ancient symbol of eternal movement, challenging its Nazi-associated stigma.
- Amantur Imanaliev – His provocative, radical symbolism sparks debate, pushing the limits of artistic expression.
- Manaf Naamanov – Attempts to merge abstraction with social commentary—will it succeed? The experiment’s outcome remains uncertain, but the risk is thrilling.
- Albina Blinova – Her multidirectional self-exploration shows great promise.
- Nuralil Kanysbekov – Presents stunning sculptural objects, building on his early success.
- Rozaliya Gainatulina – Works in naïve art, a key influence on Aivanism. Her primitivist style is the foundation of this new movement.
