โ Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How far is Alamedin Gorge from Bishkek? A: Alamedin Gorge is approximately 30 km south of Bishkek city centre, a drive of around 45โ60 minutes depending on traffic.
Q: Is the Alamedin Gorge hike suitable for beginners? A: Yes โ this is one of the most beginner-friendly hikes near Bishkek. The trail has a gentle gradient, is well-marked, and the total round-trip distance is about 11 km. Children aged 8+ can comfortably complete it.
Q: What is the Teke-Tor Waterfall? A: Teke-Tor (which means ‘goat’s horns’ in Kyrgyz) is a spectacular mountain waterfall in the Alamedin Gorge, fed by glacial springs high in the Tian Shan range. It flows year-round but is most powerful in MayโJuly.
Q: Can I swim at the waterfall? A: Yes! There is a natural pool at the base of the waterfall. The water is cold (fed by glacial melt), but on a warm summer day it is extremely refreshing. Bring a swimming costume.
Q: What if it rains? A: Light rain makes the gorge even more beautiful. We only cancel in the case of dangerous weather such as flash flooding. In most cases the tour runs in light rain โ we advise bringing a light waterproof jacket.
